Analog and digital worlds are poised to collide thanks to a new collaboration between note-taking app Evernote and Post-it note maker 3M.
The companies on Thursday announced a partnership to "give new digital life to Post-it products using Evernote's technology." Beginning today, Evernote for iOS 7 includes a new feature that lets you quickly snap photos of your Post-it notes, then store them in the app, so they're always available for quick reference wherever you are.
Once you import your Post-it notes into the app, they'll be searchable, and you can organize them by color as well as include a reminder or a due date.
In addition, the companies are now selling packs of Post-it notes featuring Evernote's elephant head logo that include a free 30-day subscription to Evernote Premium, a $5 value. The companies will share revenue from app downloads and Post-it sales as part of the deal, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal's Digits blog, which first reported the partnership.
"At Evernote, we see the Post-it Note as infinitely useful, inspirational in design, and simple and intuitive in experience — all the things we strive for when building Evernote," Phil Libin, CEO of Evernote, said in a statement. "That Evernote can enhance the experience of such an iconic product is a real thrill. Together, we can help many millions of people be effortlessly productive."
Meanwhile, 3M isn't the only company Evernote has collaborated with as of late. The Redwood City, Calif.-based organizational firm on Thursday announced a deal with PFU, a Fujitsu company, on a new scanner dubbed the ScanSnap Evernote Edition.
The scanner "takes just one minute to transform a pile of up to 25 double-sided documents of any type into crisp, clear scans that are sent to Evernote," the companies said. Imported notes are automatically organized by type in Evernote, making them searchable and accessible from nearly any device.
The $495 ScanSnap Evernote Edition scanner ships with a year of Evernote Premium and will be available in the U.S., Canada, and Japan in late October.
