Flutter, a San Francisco-based startup backed by the likes of Andreessen Horowitz and Y Combinator, launched approximately 18 months ago to develop gesture recognition technology for Mac and Windows apps.
Some of the apps that can be controlled by Flutter's solutions include YouTube, Pandora, Grooveshark, and Netflix.
With Google as the new owner, presumably some sort of Android and/or Chrome support is on the agenda.
Flutter CEO Navneet Dalal confirmed the news in a blog post on Wednesday, remarking that his team "will be continuing our research at Google."
Naturally, Google's new purchase has everyone buzzing about whether or not the new tech is going into everything from the Nexus 5 to Glass.
But neither Flutter leadership nor the Internet giant itself have revealed how or where the Flutter portfolio will be integrated.
Financial terms of the deal have also not been disclosed.
