Facebook on Monday announced a couple of changes coming later this week to its mobile apps to add restaurant reservations and TV listings.
Through an integration with OpenTable, mobile users who visit a restaurant's Facebook page will be able to book a table without visiting a separate mobile site or opening a separate app. The feature will be available for more than 20,000 North American restaurants.
Meanwhile, owners of Apple devices will be able to get TV listing information on U.S. "primetime" TV and movie Facebook pages. Listings will include channel name, air time and a description of the show. There was no word on when or whether similar functionality would come to other mobile platforms.
OpenTable shares jumped more than 7% on the news in regular trading Monday, to close at $74.08
