DOJ proposes shorter e-books injunction for Apple - Boston Globe
WASHINGTON —Apple Inc. may face less punishment for conspiring with publishers to raise e-book prices under a proposal from the Department of Justice, which suggested Friday that it would halve the length of a proposed injunction to five years. The injunction would keep the company from entering deals with publishers that limit price competition.
The proposal includes a chance to seek a number of one-year extensions.
The government said it made the modification based on concerns the original proposal would outlive its usefulness and unnecessarily harm Apple in a fast-changing industry.
